as we entered the park we followed one of these red buses that are powered by propane. we did a couple days of hiking, but most of these pics are from the day we hiked up to the Grinnell Glacier in the eastern side of the park. to get there we took the Go-To-The-Sun road from West Glacier. It was so awesome!
in the picture below you can see how the road is carved out of the rockies... it is just so amazing. we crossed the continental divide at the top.
and saw this mountain goat just chillin
our hike began down in this valley by Swiftcurrent lake. then you traverse along Lake Josephine and head up above Grinnell lake- it was absolutely stunning!
we were headed to just above that waterfall in the distance...
below is a picture of mark on the trail... it's a little hard to see him
... if this place doesn't make you feel humble and small, i don't know what else could.
we made it up to the glacier after it started to hail and thunder... but it was totally worth it!! there was this great lake of little icebergs... it's sad to read about how all of the glaciers have been retreating, and i was glad to get here and see this one. plus, i just love this environment, and get so excited to see ice and snow!
we started to get socked in by the storm, so started to head back
it is such a beautiful place, i'm so glad that i was finally able to see it!
